Although World Migratory Bird Day is not officially celebrated, with its many exciting events, until October 13th in the Caribbean and Latin America, as migratory birds start moving south through these countries it can already be an excuse for drawing attention to them.  Teachers can start incorporating information about migratory birds into their classroom lectures; educators and biologists with non-profit conservation organizations can start pointing out migrants on their field trips; communities and businesses can start turning off their building lights at night to spare birds confusion and collisions; and individuals can go out into their protected areas and enjoy the influx of species that haven’t been seen since the spring!
