K-cups may be convenient and easy to use, but they are among the worst plastics you could use. Because the plastic needs to be durable enough to withstand the heat of the Keurig machine, K-cup plastic is non-recyclable. Almost 9.8 million K-cups were recorded to be in landfills as of 2018. If you haven’t purchased a Keurig machine yet, don’t! But if you have one, don’t worry. Just be sure to buy a reusable filter and eco-friendly or compostable pods. Look on Keurig’s site for sustainable options or check out these pods: https://www.cameronscoffee.com/ecopods
