A report by National Geographic reveals that plastic waste has been discovered in even the deepest parts of the ocean. A diver in a submersible claimed to have recently found a plastic bag at the bottom the Marianna Trench, at 35,849 feet under the ocean surface. It was not the first plastic bag found in the Trench, but it was a confirmation that the choices made by humans are impacting even the most remote parts of the planet. Fortunately, we can all do something about this disturbing situation, at least on the side of stopping the demand for and use of plastic bags and other single-use plastic.
