Water is required for birds to survive, so it is one of the essential elements for attracting birds to your yard. Once you’re past the last frost date in your location, or in an area without frost, you can put a bird bath out and then sit back and enjoy the surprise visitors it will bring in. It is best to place the bird bath near vegetation where birds can perch and preen. Most smaller garden birds drink and bathe in shallow water. Nothing fancy is needed, although the sound of flowing or falling water will attract even more birds. Don’t forget to clean the bird bath regularly!
