Birds need water for cleaning and drinking. Provide a birdbath for visitors to your yard. Like feeders, a bird bath must be kept clean.
When placing your birdbath, be sure it isn’t located under feeders or other places where birds congregate, so that droppings won’t fall into the water.
Clean your birdbath regularly by scrubbing it at least once each month with bleach, using a solution of 2 gallons of water and 1/4 cup of bleach. Once cleaned, rinse well before refilling. When temperatures are high, you may need to clean the birdbath more frequently.
