It’s the season of Farmers Markets around the country, which are not only a great way to get fresh vegetables and fruits and support local farmers, but also to avoid plastic packaging. If you don’t already have wicker or other non-plastic containers you can bring to these markets, to hold your selection of foodstuffs, be sure to reuse the cardboard ones you get and bring them back the next time for refilling. Compared to the grocery store, where produce often comes in plastic containers or bags, there is no need to add to plastic consumption or waste when visiting a Farmers Market. Just fill up your basket with healthy goodness, thank the farmer, and enjoy the fruits of their labor!
