While many of us do our reading on a device these days, there are still lots of folks who go regularly to their local library and come home with good books of the physical kind. But how often have you tried to read a book at night and woken up your spouse with the crinkling of the plastic cover the library puts on their books? It’s just another way that plastic has become an integral part of our lives, something not many notice or speak up about. What can you do about it? Talk to the head librarian about your concerns, and ask that they stop putting plastic covers on books and find a more environmentally friendly alternative. A simple barcode or scanning tag will do!
