It’s a tradition, of course— fireworks to commemorate Independence Day. Whether the festivities are held over water or land, the flotsam and jetsam left after everything else burns up is mostly made of plastic. Plastic is a core component of many popular fireworks, making up the bodies, bases, shells, tubes, propellers, wings, caps, plugs, and other parts. Opting to attend a community event that many can enjoy at once still uses plastic, but it eliminates the plastic waste from spent fireworks at individual homes…and provides greater safety for observers. Even better, this year plan a 4th of July celebration that doesn’t involve plastic at all, either in the air or on the table!
