This year celebrates the 45th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act, which was signed into law in 1973 to protect endangered and threatened species and their habitats.  Even if we don’t know much about this legislation and its history, the fact that we can now more commonly see birds such as the Bald Eagle and Peregrine Falcon is a testament to its success.  It can take a lot of effort to bring a bird species back from the brink, however, so the best strategy is to prevent birds from becoming endangered in the first place, through taking everyday actions such as those we feature in this Conservation Calendar.
