The Caribbean is home to over 560 species of birds, including 172 species that are endemic to the region and over 180 migratory species that either winter there or travel through en route to South America.  Whether you love to visit the Caribbean to see its many beautiful birds, or you live in the Caribbean and are interested in working on the conservation of these species, you need to get connected up with  BirdsCaribbean (https://www.birdscaribbean.org)!  Founded in 1988, this non-profit group is the largest regional organization dedicated to the conservation of wild birds and their habitats in the insular Caribbean.  BirdsCaribbean serves as the Caribbean’s primary forum to promote on-the-ground conservation action by increasing human capacity, raising awareness, and promoting sound science.   You can contribute to these important efforts by becoming a member or sponsor, making a donation, or volunteering your time.  And a great way to be introduced to the amazing individuals, partners, and projects of the region is to attend the biennial BirdsCaribbean meetings, the next of which will be in Guadeloupe in July 2019.  Plan on it—you will be inspired!
