The Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (NMBCA) is an important piece of legislation that has benefited birds and people throughout the Americas since 2002. It was created to address migratory bird population needs on a continental scale and conserves birds throughout their life cycles. This Act has provided more than $66 million in grants to support 570 projects in 36 countries. Projects focused on Neotropical migratory birds can be within the U.S., a collaboration between the U.S. and other countries, or outside of the U.S. To learn more about the NMBCA and how to apply for funding for your bird conservation project, go to: https://www.fws.gov/birds/grants/neotropical-migratory-bird-conservation-act.php. The grant deadline is November 8, 2018. Even if you don’t have a project you are seeking funding for, you can still take action to support the continued authorization and adequate funding of this important legislation!
