How many of us have not succumbed to buying a frozen dinner at the store during a busy work week or when our spouse is away…then feel guilty about the empty plastic container after we’ve microwaved and consumed its usually less-than-satisfying contents? A major contribution to stopping the proliferation of plastic packaging would be to stop eating frozen meals which come in plastic trays. Regardless of whether they are recyclable or not, we need to reduce the market for such plastic items. If you must grab a fast evening meal, look for products packaged in recyclable aluminum (wash out first) or a biodegradable option. But even better would be to learn a few easy meals which you can cook at home. No matter your level of culinary skill, whatever you make will always taste better than something which comes out of the microwave in a black plastic container!
