It’s that time of year when we think about doing a bout of spring cleaning. During that process, you may find many household items made of plastic which have gone unused for as long as you can remember. While those are good candidates for clearing out of your house, just make sure they don’t go to the landfill where they take up space, can take a thousand years to degrade, and can leach harmful chemicals into the soil and water. To be given away, these reusable, but not recyclable, items must be clean and in reasonable condition, and the best destiny for things like old plastic chairs, storage containers, buckets, or toys should be your local Goodwill or other non-profit thrift store…where someone else can obtain and make use of them.
