While we all know there is quick convenience to stuffing snack packs into a lunch box or daypack, think about the amount of plastic packaging that choice represents. Those small portions of chips, crackers and cookies, or refrigerated veggies, meats and cheeses, come in individual plastic containers which are then wrapped in another container. These pre-packaged snacks and lunches are also much more expensive, for the amount of food they contain. So rather than generating all that plastic waste, the best course of action for both your food consumption and your budget is to bring or send along a reusable, washable container with unwrapped healthy portions inside. If you must wrap something inside that reusable container, use wax paper that is made from unbleached paper and coated with 100% natural soybean wax—no plastic wrap or baggies!
